GRAMMY Nominated Authentic Unlimited is a dynamic bluegrass band that blends rich harmonies with skillful instrumentation to create a sound that is both timeless and innovative. Comprised of seasoned musicians, including former members of the legendary Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, the band brings a deep-rooted passion for traditional bluegrass, infused with fresh energy. Having also earned recognition with IBMA awards and nominations, as well as Dove Awards nominations, the band's talent and dedication to their craft are widely celebrated in the bluegrass community. Band members consist of Colton Baker, Stephen Burwell, Eli Johnston, Jesse Brock, and Jerry Cole.


Thursday, Sept. 17 ~ Lonesome River Band

Since its formation decades ago, the Lonesome River Band has continued to uphold its reputation as one of the most respected names in bluegrass music. Five-time IBMA Banjo Player of the Year and winner of the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass, Sammy Shelor leads the group that is constantly breaking new ground in acoustic music. With two stellar lead vocalists, Jesse Smathers (guitar) and Adam Miller (mandolin), and the impressive talents of Mike Hartgrove (fiddle) that fans continue to embrace.


Friday, Sept. 18 ~ Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road

Known as the “Lady of Tradition” in the Bluegrass community, Lorraine has made an indelible mark not only on North Carolina music culture, but within the greater Bluegrass culture. To say Lorraine is an original would be the understatement of the decade. Lorraine’s handpicked Carolina Road band is comprised of well-known musicians Ben Greene, Warren Blair, Wayne Morris, Kevin Lamm and Allen Dyer, who have played with a “Who’s Who” in the industry, including Charlie Moore, The Bluegrass Cardinals, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, James King, Lost & Found, David Parmley & Continental Divide, and Don Rigsby, to name just a few. Their stellar musicianship and versatility ensure award-winning powerhouse performances of every song, be it “True” or “Country” Grass, or a specialty project, recorded live or in-studio.

Elizabeth Hudson is a native of North Carolina who grew up in the small community of Farmer, near Asheboro. She holds a B.A. degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and began her publishing career in 1997 at Our State magazine. She held various editorial titles for 10 years before becoming Editor in Chief in 2009. For her work with the magazine, Hudson is also the 2014 recipient of the Ethel Fortner Writer and Community Award, an award that celebrates contributions to the literary arts of North Carolina.


The Sunset Signature Series brings high-profile speakers and performers to the Sunset Theatre. It is sponsored by the Heart of North Carolina Visitors Bureau, the City of Asheboro, and the Friends of the Randolph County Public Library.

GHOSTWALK

The Historic Downtown Asheboro GHOSTWALK is a walking tour of the downtown Asheboro area. Tour guides share spooky, yet historically accurate stories about Asheboro and the people who lived there. Tours last approximately 1 hour and originate from the Asheboro Cultural & Recreation Services office located at 241 Sunset Avenue.


~ALL PATRONS WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN A LIABILITY WAIVER AT CHECK-IN~

Please arrive for your tour 15 minutes before the start time. Enter the Asheboro Cultural & Recreation Services Office from the front entrance (241 Sunset Ave), where everyone must sign a waiver. All ticket sales are final. There are no refunds or exchanges available. The tour is recommended for patrons ages 13 & up.
